We are no longer accepting donations on this campaign, but there are other ways for you to support us today!
Last Tuesday, November 16, the community of Story, WY, withstood windspeeds of 96 MPH. Fences were blown apart, power was knocked out, and HUGE trees were downed everywhere.
To our knowledge, no human injuries were reported. But the same can’t be said for sweet Ponderosa.
The doctor’s best guess is that Ponderosa was either hit by a falling tree or was in a falling tree. Either way, the windstorm left her with a severely fractured jaw and pelvis. In spite of the extensive trauma she experienced, Ponderosa has shown us nothing but cooperation and appreciation since the moment she entered our care.
Due to the damage to her jaw, Ponderosa is not in a position to eat or drink on her own quite yet. The doctor placed a feeding tube to get Ponderosa some necessary nutrition, and she’s already expressed some renewed interest in eating on her own soon!
Perhaps the most remarkable thing about Ponderosa is that though she has gone through such a painful and confusing experience, she seeks out human attention for chin scritches, shoulder pats, and head bonks. She even has a beautiful, soft purr!
Surgical options for Ponderosa will become more apparent as her strength returns. Knowing Ponderosa, whatever the option is, she’ll fight until she’s healed again!
Your support on GivingTuesday ensures that cats like Ponderosa stand a chance against the world once they enter SCSCR’s care. Your donation directly affects positive change in the lives of those most vulnerable, and your generosity will be celebrated by felines and humans alike!
